Reflections on Ayuta Caṇḍī in Kalaburagi & the Śata Caṇḍī in Srisailam

॥ श्री गुरुभ्यो नमः । श्री मात्रे नमः ॥

In the span of a few blessed days, Bhaskara Prakasha Ashram witnessed a veritable river of grace flowing from the plains of Kalaburagi to the ancient hills of Srisailam. What began as an inner stirring—a gentle summons from the Divine Mother—manifested into two monumental events: the Ayuta Caṇḍī Mahāyajña in Kalaburagi and the Śata Caṇḍī Yajña in Srisailam.

Though conducted in two distinct kṣetras (sacred grounds), the inner current that flowed through both was one and the same: Devi’s anugraha (grace) manifesting through Guru Kṛpā.

Ayuta Caṇḍī Mahayajña

Srisailam Śata Caṇḍī Mahayajña

Below is a chronicle of this divine journey, stitched together from the hearts of the devotees who witnessed it.

Kalaburagi: A Kṣetra Awakened by Sacred Fire

by Smt. Vani Ayyadevara

Like a gentle summons from the Divine Mother Herself, our journey toward Kalaburagi began with an inner stirring—an invitation not written in words, but whispered through the heart. Upon arriving, we beheld a scene reminiscent of ancient yajña bhūmis described in the scriptures: eleven homakuṇḍas standing in powerful silence, awaiting the touch of Agni, the messenger to the heavens. The very earth seemed sanctified, vibrating with mantras yet to be chanted and blessings yet to descend.

The Sacred Commencement

The Ayuta Caṇḍī Mahāyajña auspiciously began by seeking the Anujñā of Candrālā Parameśvarī at Sannati, the revered Kuladevī of Śrī Bhāskararāya. This was followed by Jalayātra Pūjā performed at the banks of the sacred Bhīmā River, leading into Jalayātrā (procession of sacred water) for Kalasa sthāpana for Ayuta Caṇḍī Mahāyajña. The sanctity of the event was further established through Go Pūjā and Pūrvāṅga Bali Pūjā-s, setting a powerful foundation for the rituals to follow.

Our first darśana was that of our revered Guru Maṇḍala—their presence radiated the quiet majesty of ṛṣis from bygone eras. Their smiles carried compassion; their words carried guidance; their very gaze carried anugraha. After months apart, meeting them felt like returning to the shade of a Kalpavṛkṣa—comforting, nourishing, and transformative.

Kannada edition of Sadyojāta Vidhāna Śiva Pūjā

The Kannada edition of Sadyojāta Vidhāna Śiva Pūjā was released during the sacred observance of the Ayuta Caṇḍī at Kalaburagi, adding a significant new dimension to a work already made available in Devanāgarī, Telugu, and Tamil. Offered to the assembled Āchāryas and bhaktas, it was received not merely as a text, but as a prasāda—imbued with the blessings of the Guru and the spiritual potency of the yajña. In an age that calls for both fidelity to tradition and clarity of practice, this book serves as a steady guide of Śiva upāsanā for householders and sādhakas alike. You can watch release snippet here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yb-EndEmntE

The Flow of Devotion

That blessed evening, by their infinite grace, we were given the divine privilege to chant the Śrī Devī Māhātmyam. As the sacred syllables flowed, they seemed to merge with an unseen cosmic rhythm. Swami from the Ramakrishna Ashrama listened with serene stillness, lending further sanctity to the moment. Beside us sat a lady beautifully adorned as Ambāḷ Herself—her presence felt symbolic, as though the very Mahāśakti had chosen to sit, listen, and bless. In that moment, the boundaries between human and divine blurred; only devotion remained.

The Celestial Spectacle

At dawn, the sacred double homas commenced. The air grew thick with the fragrance of samidh, ghee, and mantras. The climax of the rituals—the simultaneous Pūrṇāhuti in all eleven homakuṇḍas—unfolded like a celestial spectacle. Eleven flames leapt upward in unison, as if answering a divine call. The sight was akin to watching Agni Deva himself rise in multiplied splendour, carrying the collective devotion of hundreds straight to the lotus feet of the Divine Mother.

The people of Kalaburagi embraced us with a sweetness that can only come from hearts shaped by devotion. Their humility was their ornament; their sevā, their sādhana. Every meal served felt like prasādam—offered with bhakti, accepted with gratitude. Our Gurus tended to every detail with the affection of divine parents, their care overflowing with karuṇā.

As the grand Pūrṇāhuti marked the finale after a six day Ayuta Caṇḍī Mahāyajña, a sacred stillness descended—like the calm after a divine visitation. We left with hearts heavy with gratitude. The journey enriched us not only with memories, but with a deeper connection to the Divine and to our Guru Mandala.

We return bowed in humility, uplifted in spirit, and blessed beyond measure.

Srisailam: Devi’s Divine Play

By Smt. Leena Adrushtha

śrī śailēśu bhajintunō yabhavuṅgāñchī nādhu sēvintunō kāśīvallabhun golvambōduno mahā kāḻēśun pūjintunō nāśīlaṃ baṇuvaina mēru vanuchun rakṣimpavē nī kṛpā śrī śṛṅgāravilāsahāsamulachē śrī kāḻahastīśvarā! ॥ 72 ॥

In the Kālahastīśvara Śatakam, the ardent devotee Dhūrjaṭi entreats Parameśvara, saying: "No matter how small my service to You and how petty my persona, treat it as equivalent to the gigantic Meru mountain in greatness, protect me and bless me with Your Śrī!"

This sentiment echoed profoundly in Srisailam. The Śata Caṇḍī saṅkalpa started as a mere thought, but the Devi's Icchā Śakti was at work. It grew into a beautiful reality, showcasing Her divine play (krīḍā) of sṛṣṭi, sthiti, laya, tirodhāna, and anugraha all in this single event! She infused the thought, She carried out the activity, provided and protected at every step and then concluded it all. Finally, She, herself blessed us all through our ever gracious Gurus and the Gurumaṇḍala.

The Holiness of the Kṣetra

The Srisailam Kṣetra holds immense importance as both a Jyotirliṅga Kṣetra and a Śakti Pīṭha. Lord Mallikārjuna resides here with His Śakti, Bhramarāmbā Devī. It is said that He descends here every evening during Pradoṣa to care for His subjects. Many ṛṣis and munis have made this "Kailāsa on Earth" their seat of sādhana, adding to its transformative power.

The Miracle of Provision

It was here that the Devi willed for a Śiva Pūjā and Śata Caṇḍī Yajña to be performed. In this forest kṣetra, where resources are scarce, She acted as the Kriyā Śakti. Each time the team felt anxious about the venue, samidh, annaprasādam, accommodation, or the tāmbulam required for the ṛtviks and suvasinīs, support manifested in multiple forms within hours, as though guided by unseen divine hands. The phrase "Cintita kāryāṇi ayatnena sidhyanti" echoed in our minds. The task of conducting a Śata Caṇḍī homa in a city hundreds of kilometres away is Herculean. The Devi however as the Kriyā Śakti ensured that the team managed to get things done in a timely manner. To the very last minute of the event, there was an unseen, divine force that prevented any harm and protected the devotees and the Yajñam.

The Rituals

The event began with the Gurus visiting the beautiful Poornananda Ashram and delivering a discourse on the Devī Atharvaśīrṣa—the Brahma Vidyā—at the Kanchi Matham in the māḍa vīthi (temple street).

  • Day 2: Began with Go Pūjā and Guru Pāda Pūjā at the Veda Pāṭhaśālā, where over a hundred disciples chanted the Devī Māhātmyam in unison.

  • Day 3: Dawned bright for the homa. Under the guidance of our Gurus, the japam, homam, and tarpaṇam were conducted flawlessly. Gītam (music) and Nṛtyam (dance) were offered as upacāras, alongside Bālā, Vaṭuka, Suvāsinī, and Dampatī pūjās.

The acolytes from the Veda Pāṭhaśālā recited the mantras beautifully, and Devi's presence was evident in every step.

The scale and grandeur of the event was that what was meant to be an event with about 70 people attending had over 300 attendees!

The event has concluded successfully, we have all returned to our homes, offices and routines. Just like that the anxiety, excitement and anticipation have all abated. The memories of this event however will linger on for many days to come!

Sarvam Devi Mayam Jagat!

A Divine Orchestration & Journey of Gratitude

Just prior to the trip to Kalaburagi, a rare text—the Candralāmbā Māhātmya with a commentary by Śrī Bhāskararāya—was discovered in a devotee's home, revealing the divine thread connecting our destinations. It explicitly identified Candralāmbā Parameśwari at Sannati in North Karnataka as none other than Bhramarāmbikā in Srisailam. This revelation served as divine confirmation: these sacred events are not merely planned by human minds but orchestrated by the Devī Herself, guiding us from Her presence in Sannati to Her abode in Śrīśailam and weaving two distinct kṣetra-s into a single, seamless tapestry of grace. This mystical union of Her forms finds its eternal echo in the Devī Māhātmyam, linking the banks of the Bhīmā to the abode of Bhrāmarī:

bhīmā devīti vikhyātaṃ tanme nāma bhaviṣyati |

yadāruṇākhyastrailokye mahābādhāṃ kariṣyati ||

tadāhaṃ bhrāmaraṃ rūpaṃ kṛtvā'saṅkhyeyaṣaṭpadam |

trailokyasya hitārthāya vadhiṣyāmi mahāsuram ||

- Devi Mahatmyam 11th Chapter

Whether in the eleven soaring flames of Kalaburagi or the miraculous logistical flow in Srisailam, one truth remained constant: the guiding hand of the Guru Maṇḍala.

As the year 2025 draws to a close, we stand not with a sense of completion, but with humble gratitude and renewed surrender. What unfolded through the year—across different cities, across kṣetra-s, across efforts seen and unseen—has gently reminded us that when work is offered in faith, guidance precedes effort, and grace follows intention.

The journeys undertaken, the rites performed, the challenges encountered, and the timely support that manifested at every step were not isolated events. They were expressions of a deeper truth: the Guru Maṇḍala remains ever-awake, ever-compassionate, and ever-guiding, quietly arranging what the mind could not foresee and sustaining what the hands alone could not accomplish.

May we carry this remembrance into the coming year—not as memory alone, but as śraddhā, shaping every resolve and every action. With hearts anchored in gratitude and minds aligned with dharma, we step forward into 2026, trusting that the same unseen hand will continue to lead, protect, and inspire.

Sri Guru Aradhana & Sri Sarada Navaratri Mahotsava - September 2025

॥ श्री गुरुभ्यो नमः । श्री मात्रे नमः ॥

With the ever-flowing grace of our Guru Mandala, we are filled with joy to reflect on the recent divine events and to extend a heartfelt invitation to the upcoming auspicious celebrations Sri Guru Aradhana and Sarada Navaratri Mahotsavam at Bhaskara Prakasha Ashram.

This has been a truly blessed year, marked by two monumental events. Following the spiritually charged Sahasrachandi, Maharudram, and Trishati Suvasini Puja in New Jersey, we have now successfully concluded the Sahasra Chandi Mahayagnam at the Sri Aathi Parashakti Temple in Canada.

Notably, this was the first time the Sahasra Chandi Mahayagnam was performed at a South Indian temple in Canada. The event commemorated the temple's 25th Anniversary and was held to pray for world peace and prosperity. We offer our humble pranams to Sri Chandramouli Sastrigal of Adi Parashakti temple, Toronto, for giving our Ashram devotees an opportunity to do the Seva for the welfare of the entire community. We were deeply moved by the boundless affection and outpouring of love he showered upon each one of us.

A sacred series of Chandi Homams was performed to fulfill the divine goal of 100,000 Navakshari Homam offerings and 100 Chandi Homams. Over the course of six auspicious days, accompanied by various pujas and homas, the atmosphere was charged with divine vibrations and the heartfelt devotion of all the participants. We offer our deepest gratitude to all our disciples who traveled from across the United States and dedicated their time and energy to accomplish the sankalpam of 1,000 Devi Mahatmyam parayanams and 1,000,000 Navakshari japams.

Our heartfelt appreciation goes to the Toronto volunteers who worked diligently day and night for several months to make this event a grand celebration. Please click this link to view the photos from this event.

  • Taittireeya Samhita - 7.5.18

“May Parjanya (the rain-god) shower rain for us in every season. May our plants and herbs bear fruit and ripen well. May we gain what we need and may all good we possess, be protected.”

On January 12, 2025, under the divine blessings of Ambāl and the grace of our Gurus, we took the saṅkalpam to perform the Sahasra Caṇḍī Homa, Mahārudra Homa, and Triśatī Suvāsinī Pūjā for loka-kalyāṇam from July 29 - Aug 3, 2025 in New Jersey(NJ). That same evening, the very first Devī Māhātmya Pārāyaṇam was chanted, with nearly fifty devotees from NJ, Virginia, and across the USA attending in person in spite of the snowfall and many more attending online. That evening being the full moon night (Pourṇami), the Śrī Cakra Navāvaraṇa Pūjā was also performed, filling hearts with devotion and resolve.

From that sacred day onwards, the BPA New Jersey team embraced with unwavering devotion the divine mission of bringing this once-in-a-lifetime vision to life. For nearly six months, the team of earnest and dedicated disciples became the torch bearers of Devi’s grace and journeyed from home to home and temple to temple across New Jersey, carrying with them the radiance of Devi Mahatmyam. With every recitation, they not only invoked the Mother’s grace but also spread the powerful call of the Maha Sankalpam to perform the Sahasrachandi in New Jersey.

It was their steadfast sankalpam—to complete 1,000 Devi Mahatmya parayanams and ignite a movement of community-wide devotion—that transformed what once seemed a distant dream into a living reality. With hearts full of bhakti, they gave of themselves tirelessly, offering every single weekend for six continuous months, setting aside the comfort of family time to serve a cause higher than themselves.

Their sacrifice, sincerity, and single-minded dedication stand as a shining testament to what discipleship truly means. We bow in gratitude to each one of them, for through their efforts, Devi’s divine will has found expression in this land.

Ved Mandir, a 45 year old temple spread in a scenic 12.5 acres land in Milltown, NJ, became the chosen venue by Devī’s grace.

In the months that followed, countless streams of effort came together. Volunteers traveled to India to source sacred items with care and quality. By mid July, with families and temples across NJ, Virginia Connecticut, Pennsylvania and even worldwide joining in, Devi Mahatmya parayanams count surpassed 3,400!

Before every Parayanam, BPA disciples performed Chaṇḍī Āvaraṇa Pooja elaborately and many devotees eagerly opened their homes to host. Alongside, group Chaṇḍī Navākṣari Japa was organized. Flyers, trifolds, and posters were created to share the glory of Chaṇḍīkā Mahālakshmi and the significance of the yagnam, reaching thousands through networks across the US.

The Triśatī Suvāsinī Pūjā team launched registrations. Also joined soon by overwhelming interest for the Rudram and Chaṇḍī Ṛtviks. By Devi’s grace, 375 Suvāsinīs registered—far exceeding the 300 nāmas of Lalitā Triśatī. A dedicated group of volunteers personally called each registrant to confirm their availability and share important details about the Suvāsinī Pūjā. It was a truly beautiful sight to witness the Suvāsinīs seated in devotion for the pūjā. The Mahārudram welcomed more than 150 Ṛtviks, each adding their voice to the sacred resonance.

Behind the scenes, volunteers worked tirelessly on every detail—inventory management, dravyam procurement, groceries, kits for Suvāsinīs and Ṛtviks, and tāmbūlam. Meticulous planning from the project management team and long-standing relationships with trusted local vendors made sourcing seamless.

On Tuesday, July 29th, 2025, the yajñam commenced with Guru Pāda Pūjā. Seeking the blessings of the Guru Paramparā, the atmosphere became charged with devotion. Go Pūjā sanctified the Homa area, followed by Devī Māhātmya chanting. The venue buzzed like a wedding Maṇḍapa—smiling faces, traditional attire, sacred sounds, and tireless activity everywhere.

A devoted volunteer team took on the sacred duty of feeding everyone, every day for five days. From tea and breakfast to lunch and dinner, they cooked with precision and love, serving effortlessly despite uncertain headcounts. Cutting vegetables, preparing all the needed ingredients, serving on banana leaves—every act was done with joy, echoing the spirit of a divine wedding feast, but offered entirely by the serving team volunteers moved only by sevā. The total number of people served food during the entire 6 day event was close to 8,000, the highest so far, for a BPA event in North America.

The flower team, too, had their own special form of bhakti and sevā. In the peak of summer, sourcing delicate blooms was not easy—many had to be flown in from India and then stored carefully in New Jersey’s heat, which was a challenge in itself. They created garlands for 150 plus kalaśams, for Suvāsinīs, and for the daily pūjās. Their hands and fingers grew tired, but their smiles never dimmed.

The homa dravyam team, the cleanup team, and the kolam team worked long hours to ensure that every morning, the homa kuṇḍa was ready anew. The dravyam volunteers often stayed late the night before, carefully arranging everything, and during the homa they moved tirelessly in the heat, ever alert, to make sure the ṛtviks always had the dravyams they needed at the right time. It is notable that on the final day we had 72 ritwiks offering the ahutis around each homa kundam and the homa dravyam team managed with aplomb. The volunteers took care of streaming our event live through our You Tube channel, handling technical challenges quietly and gracefully. Here is the link for pictures and videos.

Infrastructure volunteers took care of tents, chairs, bricks, drinking water, building homa kundams, erecting two Gazebos above the homa kundams and countless other details. Around 40 raised wooden seats for Homam ritwiks were hand made by a devoted volunteer specially for this occasion. Whether it was physical labor or finding the best deals, the infra team truly proved their dedication.

The parking team went beyond just managing cars: they even helped in clearing grass and created additional space so that every devotee could find a spot. Braving the summer sun, they directed vehicles with patience and kindness, ensuring everyone arrived in peace.

Last but not least, the accommodation team in NJ did a wonderful job of caring for all the out-of-station registrants. Many families opened not just their homes, but also their hearts, welcoming guests as their own and making them feel completely at home.

Perhaps the most beautiful sight was the gathering itself—BPA members traveling from Virginia, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Indiana, Toronto, Florida, Chicago, Bay Area, Colorado, Kentucky, Atlanta, Tennessee, Texas, and beyond. Chanting together, serving together, it truly felt like one vast BPA kula under Devi’s canopy of grace.

Across all six days, what shone brightest was the spirit of sevā and the spirit of inclusivity amongst everyone in NJ. Volunteers worked with little sleep but boundless energy, serving with smiles as if the event were taking place in their own homes.

We are truly honoured by the presence of Acharyas from different temples, blessing each one of us. Special gratitude to Dharmatma Dr. Sri Yegnasubramanian, Chariman, Sringeri Vidya Bharati Foundation, USA for blessing us with his discourse.

On the final day, we were honoured by the presence of Mr. Brad J. Cohen, Mayor of East Brunswick for his beautiful message to the community praising our sankalpam for global welfare - loka-kalyāṇam.

As part of this sacred event, two new books were brought out with Devi’s blessings. The Sadyōjāta-vidhāna Śiva-pūjā, based on Śrī Bodhāyana Mahānyāsa, preserves and explains the methodology handed down by our Guru Paramparā.

This BPA publication is currently available in Sanskrit, Tamil, and Telugu. English and Kannada versions will be available soon. If you would like to place an order, please write to: books@bpasrm.org with details of your address along with the language you prefer.

The Devī Stotra Ratna-mālikā was also released as an eBook for the benefit of devotees everywhere. We remain deeply grateful to the many volunteers whose tireless efforts made these publications possible.

Truly, making the impossible possible becomes effortless when Devī’s anugraha flows.

यं यं चिन्तयते कामं तं तं प्राप्नोति निश्चितम् ।

yaṃ yaṃ cintayate kāmaṃ taṃ taṃ prāpnoti niścitam

Those sacred six days were truly our lived experience of Devi’s grace. With hearts overflowing in gratitude, we bow to Ambāl, to our Gurus, and to every devotee who poured forth their sevā and bhakti. Our deepest thanks and blessings go to the disciples of BPA and their families, who stood with us at every step, making this journey possible through their love and dedication. We also thank Ved Mandir Trustees and priests for their whole hearted cooperation.

We cordially invite you all to the upcoming Sahasra Chandi Maha Yajnam that will be conducted from Wed, Aug 27 - Mon, Sept 01, 2025 at the Sri Aathi Parashakthi Hindu Temple, Scarborough, ON.

Sahasra Chandi Yagna Maha Sankalpam on February 16th in Toronto – Please join!

Sri Gurubhyo Namaha, Sri Maatre Namaha!

We are delighted to announce that, with the blessings of Sri Guru and Chandika Mahalakshmi, we will be taking the Maha Sankalpam to recite the Devi Mahatmya Parayanams towards Sahasra Chandi Maha Yagnam, on Sunday, February 16, 2025 at 8:30AM EST (7PM IST) in the divine presence of Sri Adi Parashakti at the temple premises in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada. This event will be streamed live through our You Tube channel.

As announced earlier, Sahasra Chandi Maha Yagnam will be performed at the temple premises between August 27 to September 01, 2025. It is being organized by Sri Chandramouli Sastrigal of Sri Adi Parashakti Temple with the support of Bhaskara Prakasha Ashram, to invoke Devi’s grace for universal Peace and Prosperity.

It was exactly 10 years ago in 2015, that Bhaskara Prakasha Ashram conducted Sahasra Chandi Maha Yagnam in Toronto, the first-ever in North America, made possible by the unwavering support of our devoted community. At the end of the Maha Yagnam, abhishekam was done to Sri Adi Parashakti Devi with the Sahasra Chandi kalasa teertham (the energized Holy waters). We are greatly honored to be part of this Maha Yagnam at the same temple after a decade and invite all devotees to join us in seeking divine blessings.

As we come together once again, we look forward to experiencing the spiritual energy and grace of this powerful ritual.

Please save the dates, and stay tuned for further details! Your support and participation mean a lot, and we look forward to sharing this sacred experience with you.

For any inquiries, feel free to reach out to us through our website or contact the Temple directly.

New Jersey Sahasrachandi, Maha Rudram & Trisati Suvasini Puja Program details

Sri Gurubhyo Namaha, Sri Maatre Namaha,

As announced earlier, we are sharing the detailed flyer for Sahasrachandi & Maha Rudra Yagnam along with Trisati Suvasini Puja to be performed between July 29 to August 3rd, 2025 at Ved Mandir in New Jersey.

With Sri Guru’s grace, Bhaskara Prakasha Ashram devotees came together in New Jersey on the auspicious Arudra Pournami day to take the Maha Sankalpam collectively to commence the Devi Mahatmya Parayanams. In spite of the chilling cold weather, devotees from Virginia & Denver travelled to be with us in person to participate in the auspicious start.

Devotees who have taken the mantropadesam of Chandi Navakshari mantra have already started to dedicate their Devi Mahatmya Parayanams towards the New Jersey Sahasrachandi Maha Yagnam.

For details of Parayanam or Navakshari Japam log and other texts, please visit our website https://bhaskaraprakasha.org/nj-sahasrachandi-2025

We will also be streaming Devi Mahatmya Parayanams live through our YouTube Channel every Sunday at 9AM EST (7:30PM IST). Please subscribe the channel to be notified of the live streamings.

May Devi guide us all through every step of this journey.
