Sri Gurubhyo Namaha, Sri Maatre Namaha!
With the blessings of Guru Mandala and Sāmba Parameshwara, on this auspicious day of Karthika Poornima when Lord Shiva manifests in the form of Agni (Fire), we are delighted to announce that we will be performing Ati Rudra Maha Yegnam and Shata Chandi Homam from March 27 to April 03, 2024 at Kovilur Math, Assi Ghat in Varanasi on the banks of the Holy river, Ganga.
Kāshi Punya Kshetram is an important place for our Bhaskara Prakasha Ashram as many Gurus in our parampara attained Siddhi in the river Ganga in Kāshi. This city has been the spiritual and religious capital of Bhārat for more than 2000 years and the entire city reverberates with the chants of Shiva mantra. It is also an important Shakti peeth and has temples for the nine forrms of Durga (Nava Durga). Hindu scriptures proclaim that any individual who takes a bath in the river Ganga becomes purified and free of sins.
It is our fortune that we will be performing the Ati Rudram Maha Yagnam and Shata Chandi Homam at Assi Ghat at the banks of Ganges where Goswami Tulsidas established Sankat Mochan Hanuman Mandir about 800 years back. It is believed that this temple was built at the same spot where Tulsidas had a vision of Lord Hanuman and wrote most of the verses of Ramcharitmanas.
The ruling deity is Kashi Vishwanatha in the form of Shiva Linga and Shiva is pleased by the chanting of Sri Rudram (Namakam). During Ati Rudram event, Sri Rudram will be chanted 14641 times while doing Abhishekam to Lord Shiva with the Holy water from river Ganga and this will be followed by 1331 times Sri Rudra Homam.
More than 130 Learned Vedic Priests and Ghana Pāthis belonging to all the four Vedas will be performing the
Ati Rudra Maha Yagnam. We will also be performing Shata Chandi Homam on the concluding day. It is interesting to note that, according to mythological beliefs Goddess Durga threw her sword after slaying the demons Sumbha and Nisumbha, and the Assi River originated from that spot.
It is a great blessing and opportunity for all of us to witness and participate in this auspicious event. We invite you all to attend to receive the blessings of Sāmba Parameswara. Please note that accomodations are easily available in Assi Ghat, but get filled up fast. Kindly plan your travel and book your hotel stay near the venue ahead of time.
