Wish you all a blessed New Year 2020!

Sri Gurubhyo Namaha! Sri Maatre Namaha!

Wishing everyone a very happy, healthy and progressive New Year 2020!

With our Gurunathas blessings and all of your support and best wishes, we had a very active and blessed 2019. The year was lined with a set of Chandi homams, Kumbhabhishekams and Classes throughout the year. We started 2019 with the release of the audio recording of the Devi Mahatmyam Parayanam along with the Durga Saptashati Parayana Krama Ebook in Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and English. To enable devotees from across the globe to participate in the chanting for Chandi homams, we used technology effectively be it Google Forms, hangouts, Facebook or youtube live.

Under the spiritual guidance of Sri Gnanananda Teertha Swamigal and Sri K.R. Yegnarathnam Deekshitar and Sri Ramesh Kutticad (Sri Atmanandanatha), we conducted the Kumbhabhishekams in Sri Devipuram in Feb 2019 and Sri Subha Siddhi Vinayaka Mandir in New Delhi in March 2019 and recently Shiva Linga Pratishta for Nandalala Mission, Chennai. We are thankful to Sri K.S. Sriram Deekshidar and the core team of Chennai Ashram for coordinating all these events. Many devotees from across the globe joined us to be part of these blissful events.

Toronto Disciples started the Summer 2019 events with Sri Vidya Navavarana Homam and Shata Chandi Yagnam in June 2019 at Sri Bhuvaneswari Amman Temple in Brampton Ontario. The 100 Parayanams were done invoking the Adhyaya Devata with each of the 700 mantras of Devi Mahatmyam and Ahutis to the Adhyaya Devata were offered with every mantra during the Homam.

Our Guru Sri Vimarshananda Nathendra Swamigal insisted on reciting the Lalitha Sahasranama every day as the most effective form of Devi worship. What better day to do this Maha Sankalpam for the Lalitha Sahasranama Koti Archana than the auspicious day of Guru Poornima! In July 2019, on the Guru Purnima, Bhaskara Prakasha Ashram disciples, with Paradevata’s blessings, took the Sankalpam to complete Koti Archana of Lalitha Sahasranamam in Summer 2020. Sri Yegnarathnam Deekshidar conducted the Maha Sankalpam following which the first session of Lalitha Sahasranama Archana was performed. To facilitate everyone to perform this Archana on a daily basis, we published the Lalitha Sahasranamam Namavali book in Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and English. Also, audio resources for performing the Puja is published to enable devotees to chant along with the audio recording. We are very happy to say that we have completed almost 70% of the target of 10,000 archanas, and this could not have been possible without the dedication of devotees across the globe.

In August 2019, With the grace of our Guru and Goddess Chandika Mahalakshmi, we successfully completed the first ever Sahasra Chandi Maha Yagna Mahotsava at the Sanatana Dharma Kendra, San Jose, CA in the Western United States with the active support of Sri Kumaraswamy Joshi. Through a span of 10 days, Chandi Avarana puja, Devi Mahatmyam Parayanam, Lalitha Sahasranama and Trishati parayanam were performed on a daily basis. The event also featured Hindustani and Carnatic musical concerts performed by leading Bay Area artistes. We concluded the summer programs with the Shata Chandi Yagnam in Chicago and New Jersey

Sri Sarada Navaratri is one of the busiest times for Ashram disciples across the globe. Sri. K.R.Yegnarathnam Deekshidar gave daily talks on Devi Mahatmyam during this time. When the disciples volunteered to translate his speech into English, making the discourse reach more people transcending language, country borders, the spirit of Devi and the grace of Gurus was unmistakable.

Smt. Sivashakthi from the Chennai Ashram started the Devi Mahatmyam class in our chennai Ashram premises which was also published live in our Facebook page. The session concluded on Dec 25th with the Anugraha Bhashanam by Sri Yegnarathnam Deekshidar. The class is being received so well by our disciples and the kind of positive impact being created with children learning the classes is very encouraging. Please stay tuned for details on second session of Devi Mahatmyam classes that are going to start in New Year.

The growing number of disciples pondered us to see ways we can make their learning and their path to Sri Vidya more streamlined. So we introduced Bhaskara Prakasha Ashram (BPA) Curriculum in late Sep 2019, which guides the disciples with a reasonable structured approach to learn and practice the content that we have on the website & You Tube. This is a self paced curriculum, where students are advised to complete the classes and most importantly, incorporate comfortably into their daily routine. We have divided the entire learning into multiple levels starting with 101. We have released successfully Level 101 and Level 201 of the curriculum so far. It means a lot when very, very senior disciples of Swamigal decide to enroll in the curriculum.

To help the students, some of our disciples are stepping up to being Teaching Assistants, conducting online classes as well. Starting January 11, 2020, every weekend they will be conducting live sessions for the curriculum registrants to review and practice the contents of the Sri Vidya texts from our curriculum. Please register at shorturl.at/ezRT3 to be part of our study group.

As we are coming to a close on 2019, a big THANK YOU to all of the disciples who participated in all the events this year very enthusiastically. Our heartfelt gratitude to all the volunteers who worked across the globe with tight deadlines to make the learning materials available for everyone. As we look back, while a lot of things could have gone wrong, the fact none did and every event went well beyond our expectations, points to the grace of our Gurunathas and the Parashakti.

As always, we welcome your comments and suggestions to fulfill your aspirations in this divine activity.

We pray to our Guru and Maha Shodasi to bless all of us with a healthy and prosperous New Year 2020!

For Bhaskara Prakasha Ashram

Newly added BPA Curriculum Page on the Website

Dear Devotees and BPA family members,

With the blessings of our Guru Sri Vimarshananda Nathendra Maha Swamigal and Sri Maha Shodasi, we are continuing to make progress in BPA curriculum which provides a structured approach to learning and practice to all our disciples. Below is the latest update on the curriculum content as well as Lalitha Sahasranama Koti Archana & Sahasra Chandi Maha Yagna.

BPA Curriculum :

We are very happy to announce the availability of the BPA Deeksha Curriculum - Level 201 dedicated to the lotus feet of our Gurus.

We have put in a lot of effort around adding new lessons and making them available in various languages. Specifically with this release, we have released the Ganapathi, Bala, Navakshari & Panchadashi mantra related lessons in Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and English. We have also attempted to combine the Nyasa, Japa, and Puja sequence of the material learned related to Sri Lalitha Maha Tripurasundari in Level 101 and 201 to perform a simple pooja.

Please be sure to check out https://bhaskaraprakasha.org/ which will give you quick access to the contents of Level 101 and Level 201 curriculum and the registration form.

This initiative is allowing us to get all the BPA disciples into a common umbrella. This will be the last release for this year. We look forward to seeing you soon with more content next year.

Update on June 2020 in Chicago, IL Sahasrachandi Maha Yagnam & Lalita Sahasranama Koti Archana,

BPA disciples took the sankalpam of doing 1000 Devi Mahatmya Parayanams for performing Sahasrachandi Yagnam and to also perform Lalitha Sahasranama Archana 10,000 times to accomplish the Koti Archana next year. With Guru and Devi’s blessings, we are making good progress on the counts and are confident this will be achieved well ahead of time before the actual event in June.

We would like every disciple to offer atleast ONE Devi Mahatmya parayanam (takes approx 2.5hrs) and ONE Lalitha Sahasranama archana (takes exactly 65 mins) every week to Devi so each one of the Ashrama disciple receives the blessings of Chandika Mahalakshmi and Lalitha Mahatripurasundari. If you are proficient in chanting the above, you could even do more number of counts. To be able to offer our Parayanams to Devi will be the greatest blessing for us.

If you have taken the mantra deeksha, this gives you a great opportunity to improvise your chanting while you immerse yourself in the bliss of the sounds of two great texts on Devi.

Please check our webpage on Lalitha Sahasranama Koti Archana and Devi Mahatmyam if you need help with texts or recordings of these chantings.

Be sure to login your count at:

“The deity named ChaNDI is the highest Brahman, the queen through whom the crown is inherited.” -- ShrI BhAskararAyA (in the Guptavatī)

The dēvi mahātmyam — also referred to as ChaṇdI or durgā saptasatī is the world’s most widely used hymn to propitiate the Goddess as energy or ShaktI. It comprises 700 verses on the Goddess as Divine Mother. The ChaṇdI is a powerful, boundary-less, living representation of the Goddess as Energy. It combines and bridges vēda, āgama (tantrā) and mantrā in an unparalleled fashion and is the cornerstone of India’s shāktā traditions. It is a fully advaitic (non-dual) scripture: it contains within itself the keys to radically change our perspective and ultimately experience ourselves as “ONE” with the universe around us.

By the grace of our illustrious and unbroken Guru Mandala hailing from Sri Bhāskararāya, we, the disciples of Bhaskara Prakasha Ashram are poised to perform, the first ever Sahasra Chandi Maha Yagna on the West coast of North America. The sankalpā for this Yagna was incepted almost one year ago — immediately following the 2018 Satachandi mahā Yagna. The Yagna is performed for the welfare and prosperity of the Greater San Francisco Bay Area and the West Coast of the United States.

Guru Purnima Greetings!

Bhaskara Prakasha Ashram disciples, with Paradevata’s blessings, are planning to complete KOTI Archana of Lalitha Sahasranamam in Summer 2020.

By doing Archana to Devi reciting the entire 1,000 naamaas in Lalitha Sahasranama Naamavali 10,000 times, we are able to accomplish doing Devi Archana 1 crore (Koti or 10 Million) times. With Devi and Guru’s blessings and with pure devotion and sincere efforts, we are confident we can complete successfully this mammoth task.

Our Guru Sri Vimarshananda Nathendra Swamigal insisted on reciting the Lalitha Sahasranama every day as the most effective form of Devi worship. What better day to do this Maha Sankalpam for the KOTI Archana than the auspicious day of Guru Poornima!

Bhaskara Prakasha Ashram disciples will do the Paada Puja to His Holiness’ Paaduka in Toronto on Guru Poornima seeking His blessings for this endeavour and Sri Yegnarathnam Deekshidar will conduct the Maha Sankalpam for the KOTI Archana following which the first session of Lalitha Sahasranama Archana will be performed.

For the first Archana, we will follow the Namavali recording by Sri Swamigal available at

We are very happy to welcome you to the Sri Vidya Navavarana Homam and Shata Chandi Yagnam to be performed this weekend on June 29 & 30 at Sri Bhuvaneswari Amman Temple in Brampton Ontario.

Chandika Mahalakshmi manifests Herself with a Naama (Name) and Roopa (Form) for every Adhyaya (Chapter) of Devi Mahatmyam bringing out the essence of that Adhyaya. This manifestation is known as the Adhyaya Devata or the presiding deity for that chapter.

.The 100 Parayanams were done invoking the Adhyaya Devata with each of the 700 mantras of Devi Mahatmyam so as to perform the SHATA Chandi Homam this year. Ahutis to the Adhyaya Devata will be offered with every mantra during the Homam.

The Maha Sankalpam with the first Devi Mahatmyam Parayanam was performed on the auspicious Krishnaashtami day on April 27, 2019. With Guru mandala’s blessings the disciples have now completed the required 100 Devi Mahatmya parayanams along with 100,000 Navakshari Japams.

The remaining 10,000 Navakshari Moola mantra Homam along with 10 Chandi Homams will be performed this Sunday, June 30 with Gurunatha’s blessings.

We invite you all to come and be part of this auspicious Shata Chandi Homam to receive Chandika Mahalakshmi’s blessings. We will also be performing Sri Vidya Navavarana Homam and other important and auspicious homams on Saturday, June 29. Please see the flyer below for further details.

This year, BPA disciples in Toronto took a sankalpam of reciting Devi Mahatmyam 100 times invoking the Adhyaya Devata with every mantra of Devi Mahatmyam so as to perform the SHATA Chandi Homam also by offering Ahutis to the Adhyaya Devata with each of the 700 mantras.

The Chicago Shatha Chandi Mahayagnam - a Memoir by Meera Kannan

Sri Matre Namaha!! Sri Gurubhyo Namaha!!

The much anticipated Chicagoland Shatha Chandi Mahayagnam that was conducted over a three day period by disciples of Bhaskara Prakasha Ashram from Friday, June 29th to Sunday, July 1st was a bliss-filled experience for all of us. The rare presence of Sri Gnanananda Teertha Swamigal and Sri Yegnarathnam mama was  a delight for all devotees, and so were the loving presence of  our gurus Smt. Akhila manni and Sri Raghu anna.

On Friday, the evening’s program started off with a soulful performance of Sri. Muthuswami Dikshitar’s navavarna krithis by the local artists. Their beautiful renditions created  the perfect ambiance for the Sri Lalitha Sahasranama Kumkuma Laksharchana by 108 Suvasinis. The highly sacred Navavarna poojai by Sri Swamigal on all the days was an added treat to all who thronged the place.

On Saturday morning, the day’s program started off with the recitation of  the Vedas, Upanishads and Rudrabishekam , and these were followed by one round of the Devi Mahatmiyam parayanam. While this was going on, the Navavarna poojai was conducted by Sri Swamigal . The highlight of the event- the 108 Suvasini Poojai - was a rare sight to behold. Each Suvasini was ascribed a naamaah from the Devi Vaibhava Ascharya Ashtothra Shatha Namavali and, she was treated as a Goddess Herself with the upachara poojas being offered after Avaahanam. Everyone who attended this poojai was moved and felt the palpable presence of the Goddess Herself. This was followed by the highly auspicious and rare  Thithi Nithya poojai celebrating the Goddess within each Suvasini. The concluding prayers for that session were Sri Lalitha Sahasranamam, Sri Vaibhava Ashcharya Ashtottha Stotram and The Sri Lalitha Trishathi Stotra parayanam.

The evening program began with the well-known Abhirami Andadi and Abhirami Pathigams in praise of Ambal by Abhirami Bhattar, a true devotee of Ambal. Yegnarathnam mama gave us a bhakthi filled and highly moving speech on the karuna aspect of the  Devi and the proper method of worshipping Her as it is laid down in Sri Tripura Sthavaraja.

Sunday morning was replete with all the special homams that one could imagine. Since it was Sankatahara Chaturthi, special prayers were offered to Lord Ganapathy with the Chathuravartti Tarpanam by Sri. Sridhar Sivaraman mama. After a recitation of  the Upanishads, Ganapathy Homam, Rasi Graha Nakshatara Yogini Homam, Rudra homam , Sundari Garbhita Purusha and Sri Suktha homam, , Navakshari Moola Mantra homam, Chandi homam, and the Sri Vidya Navavarana homam were conducted by our gurus in strict accordance with the procedures and rules laid down in the shastras.

While these homams were taking place, the Navavarna poojai was being performed by Sri Swamigal to the Kalashas and the Sri Chakram. Simultaneously, the Kanya poojai(11 of them) and Vatuka Poojai (10 of them) and Sumangali Poojai were offered. The  Dampathi poojais were offered to our Gurus as we sought their blessings.  The concluding prayers and mantras of the Chandi Homam were a sight to behold.

At the volunteer appreciation meet, Sri Yegnarathnam mama’s parting words of advice inspired us all, and the most stunning aspect was that his speech was followed immediately by a rejuvenating shower of rain. Mama later told us that The Devi was extremely happy with the effort of Her children and this was Her way of manifesting it. We were thrilled and humbled.

On the concluding day, all of us, devotee-volunteers felt that we were a part of a huge family all with the focused purpose of Loka kalyanam. What better way of spending a weekend than celebrating the glory of Shri Mahashodashi!!

We thank Sri VijayaGanesh for these amazing photos from the Shata Chandi Maha Yagnam

May we all come together again very soon for lokakshema !! Loka Samastha Sukhino Bhavanthu!

Chicago Shata Chandi Maha Yagnam 2018

A Volunteer's note on the upcoming Shatha Chandi Maha Yagnam in Chicago

The Chicago ShathaChandi Yagnam starting this weekend with Sri Lalitha Sahasranamam Laksharchanai on Friday the 29th of June 2018 (tomorrow) and ending with Sri Chandi Yagnam on Sunday the 1st of July has been off to an incredibly auspicious start with the beautiful Pournami poojai and Navavarna poojai yesterday by Sri Gnanananda Teertha Swamigal and Sri Yegnarathnam mama. A highlight within the highlight was Sri Yagnarathnam mama’s explanation on the importance of chanting Sri Lalitha Sahasranama.

Here is the link to the video.

The past few months of getting ready for a yagna of this magnitude- the first of its kind in the Chicagoland area- has brought together scores of devotees many of who are volunteers in a united and common purpose of serving the conduct of this yagna. We had weekly Devi Mahathmyam Paarayanams and one special Navavarana puja  and Devi Mahatmyam Paarayanam on the Mother's Day on May 13, 2018 performed by our Gurus Sri & Smt Raghu Ranganathan with a Maha Sankalpam for the Shata Chandi Homam.

With the blessings of our Guru Parampara and Sri Mahashodashi, we have come to realize that our miniscule role in this cause is probably the result of the yearnings of several janmas. The presence of our gurus and their loving support and guidance have filled us with endless faith, joy, and enthusiasm that the LokaKshema for which this Yagna is intended will be blessed by Ambal.

Please see the details of program here.  Individual Sankalpams for the Shata Chandi Yagnam will be done during the event.

Sri Vidya Upasana in the presence of Sri Gnanananda Teertha Swamigal on June 9 in Mississauga and June 10 in Brampton

Dear devotees,

We are pleased to announce that Sri Gnanananda Teertha Swamigal of Bhaskara Prakasha Ashram will be with us to bless us during the two day Pujas and Homams in Mississauga and Brampton on June 9 & 10.  Please see details below.

June 9 - Sri Chakra Navavarana Puja performed by Sri Gnanananda Teertha Swamigal at Hindu Heritage Centre, Mississauga, Canada

Sri Gnanananda Teertha Swamigal was born as the illustrious second son and also a very competent disciple of rare talent of our Guru Sri Vimarshananda Nathendra Saraswati Maha Swamigal.

Having born in the family with rich heritage of Vedic scholarship & Sri Vidya Upasana, Sri Gnanananda Teertha Swamigal (in his Poorvashrama called fondly as Sundara Chittappa) followed the prescribed ordainments and was initiated into the Srividya upasana by his Poorvashrama grand father and Guru Sri Prakashananda Natha.

Later, under the tutelage of his Poorvashrama father he learnt the nuances of Sri Devi Puja. To put it in a nutshell, he is a practicing Sri Vidyopasaka par excellence and no field or practices in the Great Ocean of Sri Vidya worship is untouched or unvisited by him.

As a Sri Vidya Upasaka he attained the consummate status and got devout disciples. By the will of Sri Parameshwara and by steadfastly following the path laid by the forefathers, he vowed to transcend into the Fourth Phase of Sanyasam on January 1st, 2017.

It is indeed a great blessing for all of us that he consented to travel to North America to perform Sri Vidya Navavarana pujas this year. Devotees will be performing the archana to Sri Yantras with Sri Devi Khadgamala and Lalita Trisati in his presence and we encourage every devotee to register here as early as possible to reserve your seats.

The Devi Khadgamala is a very important Mantra for a Srividya Upasaka. The origins of this Vidya may be traced to Puranas and Tantras. The Khadgamala mantras are regularly chanted by those who are duly initiated into Srividya and those who perform Nitya Japa of Devi. It is said that mere recitation of Khadgamala confers not only the Pooja Phala of complete Navavarana worship, but also of every other form of worship.

June 10 - Sri Shata Chandi Maha Yagnam at Sri Bhuvaneswari Temple, Brampton, Canada

With the blessings of Goddess Chandika Mahalakshmi and our Guru Parampara, disciples of Bhaskara Prakasha Ashram will be conducting a Shata Chandi Maha Yagnam in the divine presence of Sri Gnanananda Teertha Swamigal.

Program details are below.
