We are extremely delighted to announce that with the blessings of Goddess Chandika Mahalakshmi and our Guru Sri Vimarshananda Nathendra Saraswathi Swamigal, Bhaskara Prakasha Ashram in collaboration with S3 Goshala foundation and various spiritual and like-minded organizations  and will be taking Sankalpam to perform Laksha Chandi Mahayajna. Chandi Paarayanam towards this Laksha Chandi will be done on a dailly basis by devotees across the world for global peace and prosperity. The related Yajnas for this Laksha Chandi Homam will commence in India during the auspicious Sharad Navaratri in October, 2020 and at various locations around the world in 2020 and 2021. Laksha Chandi Homam involves reciting Devi Mahatmyam 100,000 times, Navakshari Japam atleast 10 Million times and performing Chandi Homam 1000 times along with Navakshari mantra homam atleast 1 Million times. This kind of a Maha Yagnam is only possible with the divine grace of Chandika Mahalakshmi and all your support.

Chaturavarti Tarpana For Maha Ganapathi

On the occasion of Ganesha Chaturthi this Saturday, August 22, we will be offering Chaturavarti Tarpana to Lord Ganesha with a Sankalpam that includes a prayer for removing obstacles for performing the Laksha Chandi Maha Yagnam and Sahasra Chandi Maha Yagnam planned to be completed next year.

Tarpanam is a Vedic practice of offering arghya to Gods reciting the Mula mantra. Ganesha is known as tarpana priyah, one who likes Tarpana and His tarpana counts are 444, collectively called as Chaturavarti Tarpana. It is auspicious to perform this puja on Chaturthi days every month and especially on Vinayaka Chaturthi day.

Bhaumaashwini Devi Atharvaseersha Parayanam - July 14, 2020

Tomorrow, Tuesday, July 14th being the auspicious Bhaumaashwini day in India (until 2 PM), we will be seeking Chandika Mahalakshmi’s blessings by reciting Śrī Devyatharvaśīrṣam (also called Devi Upanishad from the Atharvana Veda) TEN times.

Many of you would be already aware that when Ashwini Nakshatra falls on a Tuesday (Bhauma Vasara), this confluence called Bhaumaashwini is considered very auspicious for reciting  Devi Upanishad.

Śrī Devyatharvaśīrṣam says:

“Daśa vāram pathèdyastu sadyah pāpaih pramućyate”

Meaning: Reciting Devi Upanishad ten times removes all the sins (paapam)

“Bhaumāśvinyāṃ mahādevīsannidhau vā japtvā mahāmṛtyuṃ tarati । Sa mahāmṛtyuṃ tarati ya evaṃ veda ।  Ityupaniṣat ॥ “

Meaning: The devotee who chants Śrīdevyatharvaśīrṣam on Bhaumaashwini day, will attain the highest human attainment of freedom from the cycle of birth and death which presupposes the obvious attainment of leading a blessed life and enjoyment of all material comforts. It also means one has a long life filled with Ananda and in the end attains the Brahman and breaks the cycle of birth and death.

Tuesday, July 14th (in India) is not only Bhaumaashwini but also Krishna Paksha Navami - both very auspicious for doing Devi Puja or Parayana.

Devi Mahatmyam Class of 2020 and Guru Purnima Online event

With the grace and blessings of Guru Mandala and Sri Chandika Mahalakshmi, we completed the class of April 2020 of Devi Mahatmyam. It was supposed to be just a single Devi Mahatmyam Parayanam in early March to pray for global healing and well being. Seeing the outpour from people across the world to that event, after the Vasanta Navaratri parayanams that followed it, we decided to offer this class with the goal of getting ready for you to chant Devi Mahatmyam with ease by Sarada Navaratri 2020. 

With ~1800 students learning from all over the world (and still registering), the reception to the class in the last 46 days has been extraordinary. There is a saying - “it takes a village to raise a child”. When we embarked on offering this class with the sole intention of providing the best learning experience for the incoming students, our BPA Global village raised up to the occasion so beautifully. 

We hope you are enjoying the weekly discourses by Sri. Yegnarathnam Deekshidar on the meaning and significance of Devi Mahatmyam in simple, practical and effective terms and participated in the weekly classes by Smt. Mythili Seetharaman on the basics of Sanskrit language. As many of you shared with us, these two unique sessions make a big difference to our chanting.

We thank from the bottom of our hearts each and everyone of the Ashram disciples who worked hard the last couple of months, with the student support sessions and reviewing audio submitted by students for review, in a timely manner. Our heartfelt gratitude to all who worked diligently, taking care of  logistics and technical details, helping in Sanskrit class, taking care of typos in our publications to translating discourses, publishing quizzes, sending reminders and the list goes on ...

As we come to the end of these sessions, there are few important announcements on what is ahead: 

  1. We will continue to have the weekly support sessions hosted by our disciples. 

  2. Quizzes will be published on a weekly basis.

  3. Rest of the recitation tests will be published.  

  4. We have had many of the students reach out to get Mantropadesam. Our Ashram practice is to give the Mantra Deeksha only in person. But considering the current unprecedented situation we are in, we have decided to give the upadesam online on Guru Purnima this weekend, just to enable all the students to do the Devi Mahatmyam Parayanam without any shortcomings. Once things clear up and we are all able to travel, the disciples can meet in person and take the sparsha deeksha.

  5. More information on that will be communicated to all those who registered for Devi Mahatmyam class and to all those who wrote to us seeking Mantropadesam.

Lalitha Sahasranama Archana:

Our Guru Sri Vimarshananda Nathendra Saraswati Swamigal insisted on reciting the Lalitha Sahasranama every day as the most effective form of Devi worship. In July 2019, on the Guru Purnima, Bhaskara Prakasha Ashram disciples, with Paradevata’s blessings, took the Sankalpam to perform Koti Archana of Lalitha Sahasranama Namavali.

We are very happy to say that we have completed almost 98% of the target of 10,000 archanas and this could not have been possible without the dedication of devotees across the globe.

Akshaya Triteeya Devi Mahatmyam Parayanam

We did the first online Devi Mahatmyam Parayanam on March 22 for Global Welfare following which we did a series of Devi Mahatmyam Parayanams everyday during the nine days of Vasanta Navaratri. It was overwhelming to receive messages from so many of you expressing gratitude and sincere requests to continue these Parayanams even after Vasanta Navaratri as it provided a lot of solace to many during this difficult time the world is facing.

We decided to not stop the online webcast and the first weekend of April we brought out a special telecast of children all across the world joining together to recite Durga Saptsloki. More than 1000 voices participated in reciting the powerful Durga Saptasloki invoking Durga Parameswari. Following this we continued doing the Devi Mahatmyam Parayanams every Sunday this month and we would like to let you know that will be concluding this series of Parayanams this Sunday, April 26th on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Triteeya.

Meanwhile, we received innumerable requests from online viewers to teach Devi Mahatmyam and with the blessings of Gurumandala and Chandika Mahalakshmi, we will be starting to teach Devi Mahatmyam class this weekend as announced earlier.

By the grace of the Guru mandala and Goddess Candikā Mahālakshmi, we were fortunate to be able to complete the first ever Global Durga Saptasloki Seva entirely by kids from different countries for world healing last week. This was indeed a blessed event, as this prārthanā was led exclusively by  a group of children, and combined  a musical rendition of the essence of the CandĪ, along with a unique yantrā rendering exercise.  It is only due to the support of you all and Devi’s grace that we had over 1000 voices  participate in this prārthanā from all over the planet.

Bhaskara Prakasha Ashram is really blessed to have conducted the global online Devi Mahatmyam Parayanam for the last 9 nine days of this Vasanta Navaratri culminating with Lalitha Sahasranamam and Trisati on the 10th day with the Sankalpam for Global healing and well-being. Seeing the outpour from people for the Viswa Svastya Chandi Parayanam on March 22nd, we decided to host this 10 day event in a very short time.

With the blessings of our Gurumandala and Goddess Chandika Mahalakshmi, I am very happy to let you know that, we have chanted more than 2,000 Devi Mahatmyam Parayanam, completed more than 10 lakhs of Navakshari Japam and had 693 people joining the Parayanam by listening to it entirely with complete devotion. None of this would have been possible without the outpouring support and participation of devotees from across the globe.

This Vasanta Navartri was truly a special event -- First time we have ever conducted Devi Mahatmyam parayanam for nine days completely online. Although we all are geographically separated, it felt as if we were together in front of Devi chanting in unison. In the end, all of us have experienced true surrender, true bhakthi, true belief and our immense love for the Divine Mother.

 As we look back, who would have even imagined in their dreams, the 180 degree change in our lives - life before Covid and after Covid. Social distancing, Janata curfew, Shelter in place have become routine aspects of our lives and will continue to be for some more time to come. Just as Suratha and Vysya did penance and worshipped Chandika Mahalakshmi in the forests far away from hustle and bustle of life, all of us could do the Paarayanam as a tapasya in isolation with Swaatmaanubhuti.  

Exactly 32 years back, in March 1988, my Guru Sri Vimarshananda Nathendra Maha Swamigal directed me to go to the Katyayani Temple, Chattarpur, New Delhi to perform Chandi Homam and Srividya Homam for 15 days starting the first day of Vasanta Navaratri until the full moon day. Keeping my personal and family commitments aside, I just followed the direction of my Guru who always insisted on the importance of participating in a yegna performed for Loka Kalyanam. 

Until I reached the temple, I was unaware of the strict restrictions that all ritwicks needed to follow for those 15 days. We had to stay within temple premises without any kind of communication with the outside world. We were not allowed to talk unless it was really required. Each day started at 4AM with Veda Parayana, followed by  Chandika Homam, Vishnu Sahasranam Paarayanam, Sri Lalitha Sahasranama and Sri Lalitha Trishati Parayanam and Sri Vidya Homam Poornahuthi at 8PM. The first day was a bit hard but at the end of the first day we were all fully energized and looked forward to the next day's events. Infact, we all felt sad on the final day and wished the Pujas and homams continued further. The same kind of feeling everyone got at the end of this Vasanta Navaratri Parayanams.

I never imagined that after 32 years, during the same Vasanta Navaratri, Chandi Paarayanam, Japams and Srividya Navavarana Puja would be performed in Ekantha (isolation) during this period of lockdown in Bangalore. This parayanam we all did in unison as a Maha Yegna for Loka Kshema will surely please Chandika Mahalakshmi. Her blessings will give all of us inner strength to deal with the current situation and  enable the world to quickly bounce back from the current gloomy situation to a bright and prosperous future. I strongly believe that when we help others by forgetting our own problems and challenges, it will in turn ease ours. I pray to our Guru Parampara and Chandika Mahalakshmi to bless each one of you who have taken the time to join us in the Parayanam session leaving aside all challenges you may have had.

Everyone felt as though we have transcended the physical distance. All of us were in everyone’s house - everyone’s Pooja room, making Navaratri visits! This year, as many of you pointed out, everyone had the divine darshan of Maha Shodashi and Sri Yegnarathnam Dikshithar from Chennai Ashram visiting their houses and blessing us all on the ninth day! To summarize, the 10 days of Vasanta Navaratri have brought us all spiritually closer and have made us all mentally stronger with the firm belief that Devi will take care of us.

Vasanta Navaratri - 9 day Online Chandi Parayanam for Global Healing

Dear All

We wish to thank all of you from the bottom of our hearts, for your active role in joining the Visva Swastya Chandi Parayanam last Sunday and spreading the word about the event. This event was unique for a lot of reasons: Firstly, the timing of the event with the pandemic really looming around us. Secondly, we feel this has been truly a global outreach event, that brought forth the Saranagathi, Surrender, Bhakthi bhavam in all of us. It has given hope, courage to people across countries, time zones, creed and community.

Lastly, we typically do a facebook live or youtube live or google hangout but not all together as it involves significant manual effort. As Ambal would have it, we decided this time to use Zoom that allows us to stream the chanting more efficiently. We hosted a webinar on Zoom and live streamed into Facebook and YouTube. We had an amazing turnout for this Parayanam: ~415 attendees on Zoom, ~4.1K view on YouTube, 17K views on Facebook (and still counting!) All of this is just not possible without each and every one of you. Such group prayers aid in the Global Healing.

During the upcoming Vasantha Navarathri, we plan to have a daily chanting of Devi Mahatmyam and pray to Goddess Sri Chandika Mahalakshmi to cast her benign grace on our ailing planet. Each day, the parayanam will begin and end with 54 repetitions of a unique powerful mantra from Durga Saptasati. Please check the flyers for details.

Sahasrachandi Maha Yagnam 2020 - Chicago, IL - Registration now open!

With the blessings of Shree Maha Shodashi and the Gurumandala of Bhaskara Prakasha Ashram (BPA), we are delighted to announce a Sahasrachandi Maha Yagnam for the first time in the Chicagoland area from Thursday the 25th of June to Sunday the 28th of June, 2020 at Sant Nirankari Bhavan, Warrenville, IL.

The conduct of this Mahayagnam is a huge undertaking that involves utmost and constant dedication to complete 1,000 parayanams of Durga Sapthasathi and 10 Lakh Navakshari japams before the start of the yagnam.
This will be the only Sahasrachandi Maha Yagnam for this year by BPA in North America!! The Acharyas for this will be our revered Gurus, Shri Brahmashri Yegnarathnam Deekshidar and Shri. Raghu Ranganathan, who will be conducting this Maha Yagnam in the strictest Sri Vidya tradition. His Holiness Shri Gnanananda Tirtha  Swamigal will grace the occassion and it will be a great blessing for everyone to witness his Puja.

We expect BPA disciples from all over North America and other countries to participate in this.

A brief overview of the program:
On Thursday the program will start with the Sahasra Modaka Ganapathi Homam followed by Navagraha, Sri Rudra, Purusha Sooktha, Shri Sooktha, Rashi, and Nakshatra Homams. These will be followed by the highly auspicious and elaborate Sri Vidya Homam.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday Chandi Homams along with Navakshari Moola Mantra homams will be conducted. Each day the Sri Vidya Nava Avarna pooja, Dampathi, Suvasini, Vatu and Kanya poojas will also be performed.

On Friday the 26th evening, we will be conducting the Sri Lalitha Sahasranama Archana as a concluding finale to the year-long 1 Crore Sahasranamavali Archana sankalpam taken by BPA disciples on Guru Poornima day, July 2019. We are grateful to all the Devi bhaktas from around the world for their support in accomplishing this mammoth sankalpam.

On Saturday, besides the Chandi Homams in the morning, the highlight of the event will be the Trishathi Suvasini Pooja in which 300 suvasinis will be worshipped as Devi swaroopam exactly as it is in the Sri Lalitha Trishathi Namavali.

On Sunday the 28th, the Sahasrachandi Mahayagnam will conclude with the Chandi Homams and the Poornahuti. We pray to Devi and our Gurus to bless us in a smooth conduct of this Mahayagnam for LokaKshema.
