As we are getting closer to this goal, we are fortunate to have auspicious ‘Bhaumaashwini’ fall this Tuesday, June 16th, 2020. When Ashwini Nakshatra falls on a Tuesday (Bhauma Vasara), this confluence called Bhaumaashwini is considered very auspicious for reciting Devi Upanishad and Devi Mahatmyam Paarayanam.
Śrīdevyatharvaśīrṣam,says, “ Bhaumāśvinyāṃ mahādevīsannidhau vā japtvā mahāmṛtyuṃ tarati । Sa mahāmṛtyuṃ tarati ya evaṃ veda । Ityupaniṣat ॥ “
The devotee who chants Śrīdevyatharvaśīrṣam (also called Devi Upanishad from the Atharvaveda) on Bhaumaashwini day, will attain the highest human attainment of freedom from the cycle of birth and death which presupposes the obvious attainment of leading a blessed life and enjoyment of all material comforts. It also means one has a long life filled with Ananda and in the end attains the Brahman and breaks the cycle of birth and death. Ashwini nakshatra falling on a Tuesday is a very important Parva dina for Devi Puja.
